After only 3 years of driving, I have unfortunately experienced the almost inevitable....hitting a deer on the road.  Nearby the place we live is a park where the deer tend to hang out on the road.  Fortunately I did see the deer ahead of time and was able to slow down a bit before hitting him.  He flew up on the windshield, so I was VERY thankful that he didn't come THROUGH the windshield!
Although I did feel bad for the poor creature, I'm pretty sure we all secretly rejoiced in the fact that the world has been rid of one more "terrorist" as Richie calls them.   :-)
It was also a huge blessing that the airbag didn't go off.  You can actually see the little black square that is the air bag sensor to the right of the smashed grill area.  The full force of the deer hit right in that spot.
Thank you Lord for your protecting hand during this incident!

Wonderful Visit with Grammie and Papa!

They made us a delicious dinner!

We had such wonderful encouraging conversations about God's incredible providence and grace in their and our lives.  Every story of our own (and our ancestor's!) ultimately causes us to stand in awe of the unfathomable bigger picture.  What an amazing God we serve!

Hard to believe that you are 4 already!

Uh oh!  The day has barely begun and he's downed a can of pop!
 Yummy BBQ!

The master BBQer doing what he does best!

 3 generations of Bowes!

A rip-roarin' game of volley ball, which unfortunately ended in an injured rib for Papa! :-(

 The cowboy!

The workin' man showed up to the party after getting all of his work done.
 Cousin love!
 We love you Benny!

Fun with the Sibs ;-)

On Mondays evenings Richie and I have had the pleasure of babysitting the youngest Bowes while the older set attends a class in Centralia.  Unfortunately, I haven't been real good about taking lots of pictures, but here are a few!

These two can really put away the Gatorade and Mac-n-cheese! :-)

And this one just wants to be held the whole time, which is quite alright with me!

One of the boys favorite activities is watching stuff crash, get blow up, and demolished on youtube.  The big one enjoys it as much as the little ones.  They also learn about operating cranes, dozers, and skid-steers.  Richie's idea of a fantastic educational session! :-)
Love all my silly heads so much! :-)

Gardner/Sympson Wedding!

On Saturday we had the pleasure of attending a wedding for a dear friend and sister in the Lord.
It was a truly beautiful and joy-filled afternoon!  We were blessed with perfect weather conditions, as you can see from the photos.  And the setting was gorgeous, as it was held on the farm where the Sympson family is currently living.

Mrs. Sympson did most of the decor' herself.  She was incredibly creative, just like my mom was for our wedding!

The decorations fit Hannah and Garrett so perfectly.  They both have spent much time together training Hannah's 3 horses.

Richie and Asher having a man-to-man.

These are the wedding cakes that the bride made FROM SCRATCH!  She is amazing!

Sweet miss A, sister of the bride :-)

"Speak now or forever hold your peace!" Garrett's shotgun goes "Chhh Chink!"
This was my favorite part of the wedding!
The happy couple shooting off their first arrow together.  Such a cute idea.
They are both archery enthusiasts!
 First kiss!!!!

 The VERY happy couple!
 Saying hi to the horses!

Farm Life

 Hello everyone!
The weather here has been lovely, the weeds are growing, the bees are making honey, the berries are ripening, the young roosters are crowing, and Rosie had her calf on Monday!  That is, in short, the latest news from the farm.  :-)

This is my little Handsome!

He was a very red/orange color when he was born.  We thought "Pumpkin" would be a good name for him.  But now I'm not so sure!  He's looking a lot more like his momma (Jersey) than his dad who was a registered red Dexter.

One of the latest new endeavors...sprouting and drying whole grains for flour.  It makes the flour come out more fine and more nutritious!  It is just great for pizza dough, pastries, and cake!

Yesterday this delightful young lady spent the day with me!
She is an animal lover and a great cook! :-)  We had a great time doing the chores, cooking, and hanging out!

We canned 24 half pints of wild Thimbleberry jam together.  It turned out quite pretty and delicious!  Thimbleberries are very delicate and taste a lot like a very flavorful strawberry.  They are hard to come by, but this year we were blessed with an exceptional harvest!

This is how I spent the evening of July 4th...out with the sheepies making sure they were ok with the fireworks!
Petunia says "Oh I am so flattered.  Love your PJ's!"
 It's my fan club!

They would be so happy if I sat in that chair and petted them all night!

"Who, me?  Chewing on your chair?  Wasn't me, promise!"
