'Twas the Night After Christmas~

‘Twas the night after Christmas and all through the house

Not a person was saved, not one in the house.

Our rarely-read Bible was nowhere in sight,

Who would have thought that tonight was the night?

Our children were safely carried to bed,

With visions of Santa Claus still in their heads.

As Mom cleaned the table, I turned out the lights,

Heaved a sigh of relief and called it a night.

We climbed up the stairs and crawled into bed.

Not once was a prayer even thought, much less said.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter,

We sprang out of bed. "What on Earth was the matter?"

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the blinds and threw up the sash,

When what to my wondering eye should appear,

But the armies of Heaven! Jesus was here!

As I looked at the sky now rolled back as a scroll,

I suddenly realized the need of my soul.

My neighbor said Jesus was coming one day.

I foolishly said: "You’re crazy! NO way!"

My neighbor persisted, he spoke of the Savior.

But I foolishly trusted in my "good behavior."

My neighbor persisted some more ‘til I said:

"I’ve heard quite enough! Now that’s enough said!

I don’t lie, cheat, or steal. I don’t gamble or drink!"

"I live a good life. Now that’s what I think!"

As I gazed at the heavens now brilliant with light,

I had to admit that my neighbor was right!

I rushed down the stairs, out into the street,

Hoping my neighbor again I would meet.

But once out the door, I just fell to the ground.

My neighbor was gone, nowhere to be found!

But Jesus was there! It was Jesus himself!

I had to bow down in spite of myself.

This was no movie, no Hollywood magic!

This was all real and horribly tragic!

Just hours before I sat at my table,

And said that the Bible was legends and fables.

My family and friends all laughed and agreed.

Not one of us saw our own spiritual need.

Jesus had finally returned like he said,

To judge all mankind, both the living and dead.

Now the words of this poem are painfully clear;

The coming of Jesus is ever so near!

He’s coming again like a thief in the night,

To save those who live by faith and not sight.

I was ready for "Christmas,"

I was ready indeed!

But to be ready for Christ is everyone’s need!

An Update...Finally!

Sorry it has been so long!  We've been pretty busy in the last few weeks...and every once in awhile I get a little tired of blogging.  But, I'm back, and should be for...awhile anyway. :-)

This was the "Savoring the Holidays" Christmas dinner that the ladies have every year.  It is a very fun event!

Uncle Bill and Aunt Kathy came to visit us for a couple of days.  We had a WONDERFUL time with them!!!

We all enjoyed their stories and their company very much

Some of the family even played PIT with them!  (Believe me when I tell you that this is the loudest board/card game you can possibly play.)

We all loaded up in the van one afternoon last week to see a lighted tractor parade in town.  It was a fun drive!  Those two empty seats are where we put Meemom and PapaBob when they joined us! (I love Timmy's face in this one!)

We sat bundled up at the sidewalk and waited for the parade to come

There's Meemom and PapaBob!  We were expecting it to be cold, but it probably would have been better to bundle up a little more.  It was FREEZING!

The girls are making some cookies today.  We're going to take a few plates to some people near our church this afternoon

Mrs. Jerke had us girls over to make Christmas ornaments on Monday.  We had a fun time talking and sewing our felts and fabrics together.  That little snowman face is the one that I made :-)

Yes, I'm still here :-)

I know it's been awhile since I've posted.  I've been somewhat busy lately...but to be honest, I've just not had anything extremely exciting to blog about.  Anyhow, here's a few pictures from my babysitting today and yesterday.  It's always an interesting experience babysitting 6 kids between the ages of 19mo and 8 years (Two of these being my brothers T and J.)  I love these girls though...they sure enjoy having pictures taken!

Some Miscellaneous Photos from Mommy's Camera

Look fellas!  It's Pinocchio!

One night Grandpa played some really neat folk music for all of us to enjoy!
We played a song or two too!  Caroline's hiding there at the piano behind Daddy. (Not pictured is Kyle playing the spoons just to the right.)

A friend from church joined us for the fun "hoot nanny" night :-)

Richie came too!  All of you, my faithful blog reading family know that we're officially in a courtship that's the update for any readers who haven't yet heard.
And I promise, I'm not teaching him to crochet :-)

Did you know that my very talented brother is a chef?

His Monkey Bread was amazing!!!

We girls have had a lot of practicing to do for some upcoming Christmas programs.
Victoria sure can multi-task :-)

Ya just gotta love it :-)

Mable's Puppies

Valerie's Australian Shepherd had her puppies last week!

There are a total of 4 pups...3 boys and a girl.
They are just about the cutest little puppies ever!  Their names are:
Jeremiah (Jerry)
Funny names for pups, I know.  We have a habit of naming animals after the books we read, and since Valerie's been reading "To Have and to Hold" she named them after the main characters in the book. ;-)

One of them (Jerry) is already sold...I have a feeling they're all going to be spoken for pretty quickly.

This one reminds me of a skunk :-)
