Another Poem

When Pastor Gale Van Deist was our intern at Shoestring, I used to write poems on each of his sermons.  So here's one of them!  Below is the passage he preached on ;-)

Feb 28th 2010

                               God’s Will for Us 1st Thessalonians 5:12-22

                                           Respect those who labor hard,

And diligently work among you,
Love each other, live in peace,
And admonish the idle around you.

Encourage the timid to do His will,
And work hard to help the weak,
Be always patient with your brothers,
And to pay good for evil anxiously seek.

Rejoice because our God is faithful,
Because He listens, pray.
Give thanks because our Savior reigns,
And is coming any day.

Listen to the Holy Spirit,
And examine everything with care,
Hold fast to what you know is good,
Abstain from evil and be aware.

"12 But we request of you, brethren, that you [a](A)appreciate those (B)who diligently labor among you, and (C)have charge over you in the Lord and give you [b]instruction, 13 and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. (D)Live in peace with one another. 14 We urge you, brethren, admonish (E)the [c]unruly, encourage (F)the fainthearted, help (G)the weak, be (H)patient with everyone. 15 See that (I)no one repays another with evil for evil, but always (J)seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. 16 (K)Rejoice always; 17 (L)pray without ceasing; 18 in everything (M)give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 (N)Do not quench the Spirit; 20 do not despise (O)prophetic [d]utterances. 21 But (P)examine everything carefully; (Q)hold fast to that which is good; 22 abstain from every [e]form of evil."
